US Secretary of State Marco Rubio threatened Venezuela with additional rigid sanctions if the country refuses to accept citizens deported from the United States. Rubio commented on the process of deportation of Venezuelan illegal migrants from the United States on social networks x.
He emphasized that Venezuela is obliged to accept his citizens expelled from the United States, and this issue is not subject to discussion or negotiations.
“The regime (President of Venezuela Nicholas) Maduro must unconditionally accept deportation flights. Otherwise, the United States will introduce additional, more stringent sanctions,” Rubio said.
Venezuela adopted 177 deported citizens on February 22 and another 242 people – February 25.
Venezuela President Nicholas Maduro, speaking on March 8, indirectly criticized the United States.
“They damaged the communication channels. I am trying to keep them open because I want to return all the Venezuelan to the country who were unfairly persecuted and imprisoned only for the fact that they are migrants,” Maduro said.
