Iran’s authorities deported to Afghanistan up to 18 thousand refugees, reports Mehr.
The head of the Khorasan-Rosavi police service, Majid Shoka, said that over the past 10 days, 17,926 Afghans were deported, identified by border guards and police in different parts of the Islamic Republic.
Refugees were expelled through the Dugarun checkpoint.
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Iri Ahmed Wahidi previously stated that the number of refugees in the country exceeds 5 million people, mainly from Afghanistan.
Wahidi admitted that he still has not received information about the presence of a threat from Afghan refugees.
