The Chairman of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Lyain said that the extension of the Black Sea Grain transaction depends on Russia.
“Russia is responsible for its extension, or there will be consequences for world food security,” she said on Thursday in Brussels on the occasion of a meeting with the UN Secretary General Antoniu Guterier.
At the same time, she thanked the UN Secretary General “For the tireless efforts of the Black Sea Grain Transaction”.
As reported, Gaterrish expects that proposals sent to President Vladimir Putin on the Black Sea Grain initiative will help solve the issue of its extension.
July 22, 2022 in Istanbul in the presence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and UN Secretary General Antoniu Guterrish, an agreement was signed on the safe transportation of grain from the ports of Ukraine.
Signatures under the document were made by representatives of Ukraine, Russia, the UN and Turkey.
The agreement that is realized during Turkey coordination is aimed at resolving the global food crisis.
The agreement was first extended for 120 days from November 19, 2022, and the second time for a period of 2 months from March 18.
