Facebook Corporation Manual requested employees to maintain internal documents and messages for the period from January 1, 2016 due to the interest of the US authorities after the publication of The Facebook Paper, reports The New York Times.
“How do you probably know, we are in the center of the media close attention after a series of publications of internal documents. How often happens after such publications, governments and legislative bodies began to guards on the company’s activities,” – quotes the edition emission, which received staff.
It is noted that the requirement of the authorities is not covered by all products of the company: for example, it does not apply to the documentation regarding the Whatsapp messenger.
On the eve, a number of world media published a new series of investigations on Facebook problems. Journalists have been working together, having studied thousands of pages of the company’s official documents, which were at the disposal of its former employee Francis Haugen. The authors of the investigations were approved that Facebook’s guidance in their own interests neglected the principles of freedom of speech and equality, as well as biased related to some groups of users, guided by their linguistic or territorial affiliation or political status.
