In early December, the US Department of Finance was subjected to cyberataka by the group supported by China.
In particular, a letter transmitted by the US Office of the US Congress says about establishing a “serious incident.”
According to the letter that was at the disposal of Anadolu, on December 8, the Ministry received information from the Beyondtrust Supervarie Supplier that hackers gained access to the cloud service used to provide remote technical support to the final users of the Department of the Ministry of Finance.
It is noted that hackers gained remote access to some working stations and unexpected documents.
It is reported that this incident was committed by subjects supported by the Chinese state.
Meanwhile, the US Department of Finance says that the agency applied to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) about the incident and joint work is being carried out to fully investigate the incident and determine its consequences.
“The Beyondtrust service is disabled, and there is no evidence that the attacker continued to have access to the systems or information of the Treasury,” the report said.
The American department emphasized that the treasury is very serious about all threats to its systems and stored data.
“Over the past four years, the Ministry of Finance has significantly strengthened its cyber protection, and we will continue to work with partners from both private and public sectors to protect our financial system from possible threats,” the report said.
