US Secretary of Defense Lloyd James Austin discussed with the spiritual leader of the Catholics and the head of the Vatican Pope Francis growing security problems in the world.
The Pentagon press service reported that Austin met with Pope Francis in the Vatican.
During the meeting, the parties expressed general concern about global security problems and emphasized the importance of promoting peace and stability in regions raised by conflicts.
They noted the need to continue cooperation to mitigate the suffering of people affected by war and conflicts, and also emphasized the importance of dialogue and consent in resolving global conflicts.
Austin highly appreciated the humanitarian efforts of the Vatican against civilians affected by conflicts, and praised the moral leadership of the pope and his “tireless efforts” in the protection of the most vulnerable sections of the population. “
