It became known that the treatment of US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, who was diagnosed with prostate cancer, ended, and it was written out.
The written statement of the Ministry of Defense (Pentagon) recalls that Austin was treated in a hospital with a diagnosis of prostate cancer from January 1.
The statement says that the treatment process was completed: “After consultations with medical personnel, Minister Austin was discharged today from the National Military Medical Center of Walter Reed.”
– Hospitalization of Minister Lloyd Austin
The belated message that the Minister of Defense Austin was hospitalized in the United States caused disputes in the country.
The Pentagon’s written statement of January 5 reported that Austin was hospitalized on January 1 and his state is good.
Later it became known that the highest leadership, including President Joe Biden, as well as Pentagon officials and members of Congress, learned about Austin’s hospitalization a few days later.
After long discussions, the Pentagon shared the information that Minister Austin was hospitalized on December 22, 2023 and was discharged the day after the operation with a diagnosis of prostate cancer, but then was again hospitalized on January 1 due to complications.
Austin’s hospitalization and the lack of necessary information for senior officials and the public, including the White House, subsequently caused a reaction, and the US Armed Forces Commission announced the beginning of the official investigation of the “secret” hospitalization of the Minister of Defense.
