On September 16, a telephone conversation of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyeva took place.
Anthony Blinken during a telephone conversation emphasized the importance of achieving a sustainable world between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
He noted that the United States of America will continue to make efforts to achieve this goal.
Blinken appreciated as a positive step in the field of division of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, including the signing on August 30, 2024, the provisions on the joint activities of the border division commissions.
President Ilham Aliyev brought to the attention of Anthony Blinken that peace has already been established in the region. The head of state emphasized that it was precisely as a result of the efforts of Azerbaijan that new realities and status quoes arose in the region, based on justice and international law.
President Ilham Aliyev noted that our country is the initiator of the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. To sign this agreement, the head of state emphasized the importance of Armenia’s abandonment of his territorial claims against Azerbaijan on the basis of his constitution and other legislative acts, as well as the termination of the activities of the Minsk OSCE group, which is a relic of the past, and all related institutions.
Touching upon the issue of delimitation of borders, President Ilham Aliyev noted the positive results achieved within the framework of the bilateral process, and added that this process will be carried out on the basis of the Regulation.
During a telephone conversation, the issue of COP29 in Azerbaijan was affected. Blinken emphasized that the United States supports Azerbaijan in the successful conduct of COP29. He noted that the teams and delegations of the SOR of the USA and Azerbaijan are working closely.
Having expressed satisfaction with this cooperation, Ilham Aliyev said that he hopes for the achievement of consensus, especially developed countries, regarding the adoption of important decisions related to climatic financing within the framework of the sor.
There was also an exchange of views of the two -way relations between Azerbaijan and the USA.
