US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken during a meeting with the head of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov in Stockholm warned Russia about “serious consequences”, which Moscow tests in case of invasion of Ukraine and called for a diplomatic path to solving the issue.
“The best way to prevent escalation – diplomacy, and I look forward to the opportunity to discuss this with Sergey Lavrov,” said Blinken to journalists before meeting with the head of the Russian foreign policy department.
According to him, Russia and Ukraine must fully fulfill their obligations under Minsk agreements, which were developed for the end of the war between the separatists and the Ukrainian government forces in the east of the country.
“Washington was ready to promote this, however, if Russia decides to continue confrontation, there will be serious consequences.”
