US Senate Approved Candidacy Of Turkish Cardiac Surgeon Mehmeta Oza

The US Senate approved the candidacy of the Turkish cardiac surgeon Mehmeta OZA, nominated by President Donald Trump for the post of director of services centers Medicare and Medicaid (CMS).

During the vote in the Senate “For” the OZA candidacy, 53 legislators acted, and “Against” – 45.

Oz, which will manage the leading institutions of the country that provide medical services to older people and low -income segments of the population, was the first Turk appointed for this position.

In the USA, Medicare is a federal medical insurance program that provides medical assistance to older people over 65 years old. In turn, Medicaid is a joint federal and state program of American health care, which helps to pay medical expenses to poor, disabled people, children from poor families and other socially unprotected persons.

CMS oversees medical insurance, which covers more than $ 1 trillion of annual expenses for 160 million Americans.

The American media noted that the appointment of an AC for the post of director of CMS coincided with a “difficult period for healthcare programs” within the framework of federal abbreviations held during Trump.

In CMS, it is planned to reduce about 300 employees as part of efforts to reduce health costs.

In his speech at the hearings conducted by the Senate Financial Committee last month, Oz drew attention to the need to ensure the viability of medical insurance programs in the United States.
