Four US Democrat Senators demanded an investigation about the event in the White House, at which the head of the White House Donald Trump and the American businessman Ilon Musk posed with Tesla cars.
Senators Elizabeth Warren, Adam Schiff, Korey Buker and Richard Blmental sent a letter to the acting director of government ethics management (Oge) Douglas Collins, expressing his concern to the use of an official platform for promoting a private company.
Senators claim that Musk used its ties with the government for Tesla advertising, and demanded an investigation.
“Musk, speaking at an official press conference with the president against the backdrop of the White House, actually promoted Tesla. This gives the impression that he uses his status and communication with the president in commercial interests, and also hints to support the company from the Trump administration,” the statement said.
On Wednesday, March 12 Trump and Musk appeared in front of the press on the White House lawn, where Tesla cars were exhibited.
During the event, Trump promised to purchase one of the cars.
“I will buy it, because, firstly, this is an outstanding product. And secondly, this person (Musk) devoted his life to this business, and, as it seems to me, he acted unfairly,” said the president.
