The US State Department and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) suspended financing all foreign assistance programs.
According to the US State Department, the decision was made in order to assess the effectiveness of the programs in question and their compliance with the country’s foreign policy.
The text of the message says that the assessment of financial assistance is a “moral obligation”, since expenses should benefit the American people.
Earlier, Donald Trump, who took office of the US President January 21, announced a 90-day suspension of financing of all foreign assistance programs while an analysis of the effectiveness of assistance is carried out.
