US Tariffs May Violate Article 2 Of NATO Agreements

Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Bart Eide warned that the tariffs declared US President Donald Trump in relation to foreign states may violate article 2 of the contract that contributes to economic cooperation between NATO allies.

Ade made a press statement at the beginning of a two -day meeting of foreign ministers of NATO countries in Brussels.

In his statement by the Norwegian public broadcasting company NRK, he said that the new customs tariffs, of which yesterday on April 3, are damaged by NATO allies.

He warned that these tariffs can violate Article 2 of NATO, which emphasizes the importance of cooperation between allies to prevent any economic conflicts, and said: “If you want to have a strong NATO, you must ensure as much economic growth in NATO countries.”

Having stated that the economic cooperation between the countries founded by NATO will benefit the entire alliance, Eide noted that at a meeting with the American colleague Marco Rubio, he will raise the question of the “trade war”, which will be called tariffs.

Trump on April 3 announced that the United States will introduce response tariffs against other countries. He announced the introduction of a 15 percent customs duty on Norwegian goods.
