US Vice President Kamala Harris called on Western countries to build a “world that works for women.” She stated this in her address to the deputies of the European Parliament at the opening of its session.
“If we build a world that works for women, our countries will be stronger, more prosperous and more secure. On this International Women’s Day, we will be determined and united to achieve this goal,” said Harris, quoted by RBC. p>
Harris also advocated safeguarding women’s safety at home and elsewhere: “We need to treat women with dignity at work, create the necessary structures so that a woman can take care of her family and be an excellent workforce at the same time.” p>
She noted that the fight for women’s rights is one of the priorities of the new US presidential administration.
Kamala Harris became the first female vice president of the United States. She is also the first African American woman to hold this position. During the election campaign, Harris has repeatedly advocated for the rights of women and minorities.
