The United States will allocate a new military aid package for $ 400 million to Ukraine. It involves the transfer of 45 T-72 Czech tanks to Kyiv. This was reported by the deputy press secretary of the US Ministry of Defense Sabrina Singh, the website of the defense department said.
“Today, the Ministry announces additional assistance for security goals for Ukraine about $ 400 million,” she said.
Assistance will be provided as part of the UKRain Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) initiative. This involves the ministry concluding the relevant contracts with manufacturers, and not the provision of weapons from the Pentagon reserves.
According to Sabrina Singh, the funds will go to “update the HAWK air defense systems to include” in subsequent packages of assistance to Kyiv, as well as modernization with the participation of the Netherlands and the Czech Republic of 45 T-72 tanks.
