The United States and Mexico agreed on the coordinated patrolling of its border sections to strengthen security in the region.
According to Pentagon, commander of the North American Aerospace Command and Northern US Northern Command, General Gregory M. Guillaio discussed border security issues with Mexico Minister Ricardo Treville Trevo.
Following the results of negotiations, the parties agreed on the conduct of joint patrols, strengthening the exchange of information and creating operational communication mechanisms.
Earlier, the Mexico authorities decided to send 10 thousand military personnel to the border in order to satisfy the requirements of the Donald Trump administration, concerned about the problem of illegal migration and fentanil smuggling.
Earlier, General Guillaio said at the hearing in the Senate that 5 thousand American military are already on the border with Mexico, and their numbers will probably increase.
