Representatives of the United States, the European Union and Great Britain have been regularly holding meetings for the past few weeks at which they are discussing the plan for the end of the war in Ukraine through negotiations, CNN.
In particular, according to the interlocutors of the TV channel, a plan of Italy was discussed.
Ukraine does not directly participate in these discussions, which, as CNN notes, contradicts the statements of the US authorities – “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.” At the same time, as emphasized, the United States does not exert pressure on Ukraine insisting in a certain plan and do not push it to negotiations with Russia.
We are talking about determining the approximate parameters of a peaceful settlement plan that could be offered to Ukraine for further discussion.
However, the sources of the channel doubt that Ukraine is ready for any agreements providing for territorial concessions. At the same time, two CNN sources said that the United States does not actually support Italy’s plan, which provides for the complete autonomy of Crimea and Donbass.
It is not yet clear whether the discussion will lead to the United States and its allies to negotiations.
As the publication notes, the United States authorities do not yet see the real prospects for solving the conflict diplomatic means. Ukraine and Russia also show little interest in serious negotiations.
