The US presidential administration promised to send more resources to the Indo-Pacific region in order to weaken Chinese influence on island states, official sources quoted TRT World.
For the United States, influence in the Pacific Ocean is a matter of security. Now China is actively strengthening its economic, military communications with island states that are happy with foreign investment. A few months ago, the Middle Kingdom concluded a contract with Solomon Islands, which allows the Chinese naval courts in their ports to stop. The islands are only 2000 km from Australia. The Pentagon called this agreement “the ability to destabilize the region.”
The White House coordinator in the Indo-Pacific region Kurt Campbell said: “The US needs more diplomatic facilities in the region and more contacts with the Pacific countries.” He expects that more officials will visit this region to establish cooperation in various fields and counteract Chinese influence.
