The presence of Hamas and Yemen Husites in Iraq creates the risk of pulling this country into regional conflicts. This was stated by the representative of the US State Department Matthew Miller.
According to him, Washington shared these fears directly with the Iraqi authorities.
“Hamas and Husites are terrorist organizations. Creating the opportunity for them to act in Iraq creates a risk of increasing the number of armed groups in the country, interested in the use of violence to undermine the goals of the Iraqi government to ensure stability, sovereignty and economic growth,” Miller said on daily briefing.
The diplomat noted that the United States advocates “stable and safe Iraq.”
Miller added that Washington expects Iraq to “bring accountable to all who commits acts against American personnel and American forces in the region.”
