USA: Ukraine still needs supply of Soviet military equipment

The United States strives to find a balance between the supply of modern weapons and the military equipment produced in Soviet times, the representative of the White House John Kirby said. According to him, the supply of Soviet equipment is still necessary for Kyiv. At the same time, Mr. Kirby noted that now the fighting is concentrated in the Donbass, where, from the point of view of the United States, modern long -range artillery is important, TASS writes.

In the very first weeks of the war, considerable attention “was focused on ensuring that Ukraine receives the systems they can handle,” said the representative of the White House, adding that the need still exists. “They still use these systems,” said John Kirby during a briefing on board the US President Joe Biden, who went to Europe.

Now the fighting is concentrated in the Donbass, modern long -range artillery is important there, Mr. Kirby noted. “The United States was ready to connect and provide other Western and American systems to Ukraine,” said a representative of the White House. He explained that this requires a certain preparation, for which it is necessary to withdraw some Ukrainian soldiers from the fighting.

John Kirby said that the United States wants to find the right balance in this matter. “So that they (Ukrainians – ed.) Receive the systems to which they are already used to, as well as the systems that they need, and so that without the need to be combatant on the battlefield,” said Mr. Kirby. He also noted that the United States is satisfied with the supply of military equipment that its allies implement.
