Ukraine has “real chances” to take the initiative on the battlefield, the head of the Pentagon Lloyd Austin is sure.
“I think that they have good chances to achieve quite significant changes in the battlefield and pick up the initiative. And to be able to use this initiative in the future,” Austin told reporters after meeting with the Minister of Defense of NATO in Brussels. His words are given by the Voice of America.
According to Austin, for each system that NATO will provide, Ukrainian troops will be trained.
The head of the American defense department said that almost a year after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, events were not developing at all as President Vladimir Putin planned. “NATO is even more unwavering and unshakable than before,” the minister emphasized.
According to Austin, Russia sends a large number of new mobilized to the front, which are poorly trained and equipped. “That is why Russia has such big losses,” he explained.
