USAID spokesman in Azerbaijan explained work on liberated territories

Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Refugees and Forced Migrants Fuad Huseynov met in the video format with a member of the USAID mission in Azerbaijan, an American specialist Gregory Myers.

Fuad Huseynov informed the guest in detail about the territorial claims of Armenia to Azerbaijan, the policies of the occupation and deportation, as well as the problems arising in the first years of the conflict in connection with the placement of internally displaced persons, their material support, the work done by the state in this area.

It was noted that President Ilham Aliyev had determined the problems of internally displaced persons as one of the priorities of social policy. The first vice-president of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva also pays special attention to solving such problems of internally displaced persons, as education, health, conducts important work in this area.

Fuad Huseynov also noted that residential buildings, monuments of material culture, cemeteries were destroyed in the occupied Armenia territories of Azerbaijan for almost 30 years, was seriously damaged to ecology.

American Specialist spoke in detail about restoration and construction work carried out on the territories liberated from occupation. It was noted that a survey was conducted among the forced immigrants, the absolute majority of which are determined to return to their native land. All necessary measures will be taken to ensure the sustainable settlement of forced displaced persons in these territories.

The importance of purification of territories from min to accelerate restoration and construction work, began the safe return of forced displaced persons to native land, as well as the importance of cooperation with UNHCR in the process of returning the population.

Gregory Myers stressed that the resettlement of internally displaced persons and the restoration of the economics of liberated territories are important to strengthen peace, peace of mind and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. Its main goal is to provide recommendations in support of innovative economic models of the settlement of internally displaced persons on liberated areas and attracting investment in the region.

Deputy Chairman of the State Committee responded to the guests of the guest regarding the employment of internally displaced persons, improvement of housing conditions, return and other issues.
