The use of cosmetics by children has decreased to the age of 10 years, said Nielsel Ilzel Ilsel Ilsel, professor of the Department of Dermatology and Venerology. “The use of cosmetics at an early age leads to an increased tendency to eczema and other skin diseases, as well as to deterioration of control over allergic conditions, such as atopic dermatitis,” she said.
Ilter, who is also a member of the working group on the acne of the Turkish Society of Dermatologists, in an interview with Anadolu said that she is increasingly faced with the use of cosmetics in children who turn to her for help.
According to the specialist, in recent years the number of children complaining of acne has increased. During consultations, children are asked questions about what means they use for the skin. “We see that the use of cosmetics by children has decreased to the age of 10 years. Once in a child with the problem of acne, I asked that he was applying to his face. The child turned to his mother and said:” Mom, give me my cosmetic bag. ” It was a small child with a huge cosmetic bag, in which there was everything: from concealers and blush to carcass and lipstick. I was shocked, ”Ilter shared.
The professor explained that cosmetics should not be used by young children. “Their skin is young, fresh and has not yet managed to completely form their protective barriers. When such products begin to use at an early age, the protective layers of the skin do not develop or destroy, and the skin becomes sensitive to any external influences. This leads to an increase in cases of eczema, and Also, to the fact that acne, which we usually observe in adolescence, begins to appear in children aged 10, or even 8 years, ”she added.
– “excessive use of cosmetics by children leads to uncontrolled allergic reactions”
Professor Dr. Ilter drew attention to the fact that children, as a rule, do not cleanse the skin after the use of cosmetics, and most of the cosmetics they purchase are the products of the mass market. She emphasized that these factors significantly increase the risk of skin problems.
“Thus, the use of cosmetics at an early age contributes to the development of eczema and other skin diseases. For example, atopic dermatitis, which we also begin to observe in childhood, can become uncontrolled,” she said.
