Assistant Presidential Assistance to the President of the Russian Federation, Yuri Ushakov, said that he set out the US Presidential Assistant to the US President of Russia regarding the temporary truce in Ukraine.
“I naturally commented on the agreements on the temporary truce, I set out our position on the fact that this is nothing more than a temporary respite for the Ukrainian military, nothing more,” Ushakov said in an interview with the “60 minutes” on the Russia -1 channel.
“We believe that our goal is still a long -term peaceful settlement, we strive for this, the peaceful settlement, which takes into account the legitimate interests of our part, our concern is known. These are some steps that imitate peaceful actions, it seems to me that no one needs in this situation,” he said.
The Kremlin spokesman said that recently it has been supporting quite regular telephone contacts with Michael Waltz.
According to Ushakov, yesterday Waltz called him and “informed about the main results of negotiations with the Ukrainian delegation in Jidd.”
He noted that the contacts with Waltz were established on the phone “immediately after his appointment to the president’s assistant on national security.”
“He already said this. I can confirm his messages. There is a normal exchange of views in a calm manner. I would say that this manner is different from how we talked with previous people from the administration [ex -president of the United States Joe] Biden,” Ushakov said.
The Kremlin representative also expressed the hope that the United States will take into account the requirements of the Russian Federation in the process of resolving in Ukraine.
“We spoke at different levels, including presidents, and they know our position. I want to believe that the position will be taken into account in the course of further work,” he said.
At the same time, Ushakov noted that he had outlined his point of view on what was signed in Jidd.
“President of [Russia Vladimir Putin] will probably express more specific and substantial assessments,” he said.
Ushakov also attracted attention to the position of the Russian Federation and the United States regarding Ukraine’s entry into NATO.
“Americans and we believe that NATO cannot talk in the context of Ukrainian settlement and in the context of the future of Ukraine,” he said.
