Uzbekistan: 198 repressed in Soviet period were rehabilitated

The Supreme Court of Uzbekistan justified and rehabilitated 198 people repressed in the 1920-1930s. This is stated in the message on the website of the Supreme Court.

According to the report, the victims were accused by the Soviet authorities of counter-revolutionary and anti-Soviet activities and participation in national liberation movement, the so-called “Basmatika” in the territory of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Tashkent, Ferghana, Khorezm, Bukhara, Jizak and Namangan regions.

Earlier, by Decree of the Government of Uzbekistan, a commission was created for rehabilitation of repressed in the period from 1920 to 1950.

During the former USSR in 1937-1953, 100 thousand people were repressed in Uzbekistan, of which 13 thousand were shot.
