Uzbekistan did not discuss the issue of inviting President of Syria Bashar al-Assad to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which will be held in Samarkand on September 15-16. This was announced on August 26 by the National Coordinator of Uzbekistan for SCOS Rakhmatulla Nurimbetov, Ferghana agency reports.
“Assad was not discussed anywhere at any level. We live in the era of fake messages. The issue of invitation of the Syrian president was not raised, thereby Uzbekistan,” Nurimbetov said.

Earlier, the Iranian agency Tasnim, citing its sources, reported a possible meeting of Syria Presidents Bashar al -Assad and Turkey Rayjep Tayyip Erdogan as part of the SCO summit in Samarkand.
