In Uzbekistan, the memory of the first president and founder of the Turkish Republic of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk was honored.
The leader of Turkey passed away on November 10, 1938. Since then, every year on this date at 09.05 (the exact time of the death of Ataturk), a minute of silence has been announced throughout the country.
The commemoration ceremony at the Turkish Embassy in Tashkent began with a minute of silence. The event was attended by the embassy employees, as well as representatives of Turkish organizations operating in the country.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Turkish ambassador to Tashkent Olgan Bekar said that the honor of the memory of the founder of the Turkish Republic in Uzbekistan affected the feelings of those present.
The ambassador emphasized that recently a number of countries are kindling of fire, while other states are trying to find solutions.
According to him, in the light of these events, the realization comes even more that Ataturk tried to keep Turkey afloat 100 years ago in the conditions of that period in the world and turn it into a modern state.
The ambassador noted that today’s events in the world are largely reminiscent of that period.
