Uzbekistan plans to bring the share of “green” energy in the total generation volume to more than 50 percent by 2030.
The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on current work in the field of nuclear energy and priority tasks for the future.
According to the press service of the head of state, the president is presented with information about work in the field of nuclear energy.
To meet the growing needs of the population and sectors of the economy in Uzbekistan, all sources of energy are used, the press service notes.
In addition to the traditional generation capacities in recent years, about 4 gigavatts of alternative energy capacities have been put into operation, which made it possible to increase the share of green energy up to 16 percent.
Over the next five years, it is planned to create additional power power power plants at 25 Gigavatts. This will allow the production of “green” energy to 64 billion kilowatt hours.
In general, the goal of increasing the share of “green” energy in the generation of the country is up to more than 50 percent to increase by 2030.
The development of digital technologies, electric vehicles, electronics, artificial intelligence, mining and other industries sharply increases the demand for energy.
Currently, many states are looking for ways to switch to new types of energy. Traditional fossil energy carriers are gradually inferior to renewable sources. Already today, 42 percent of the total volume of world generation is on alternative energy.
The optimal for creating long -term energy capacities is nuclear energy. Today, 417 atomic reactors with a total capacity of 375 gigavatts are operated in the world. New nuclear stations are being built, many states included nuclear energy in their development strategies.
“Uzbekistan, which has its own uranium reserves, also plans to create a long-term energy base. In particular, a project for the construction of low-power reactors has been developed. On December 5, 2024, an international conference on the use of atomic energy was held in Samarkand,” follows from the text.
At the meeting, responsible persons presented information about the work on the development of atomic energy.
The head of state gave instructions on the training of specialists for the future station and the industry as a whole, to ensure security at the level of requirements of the International Atomic Energy Agency.
It is noted that the introduction of such technologies will increase the competitiveness of the economy and create a favorable base for long -term growth.
