Uzbekistan Will Tighten Measures To Prevent Torture In Criminal Processes

In Uzbekistan, measures to prevent torture in criminal processes are tightened.

At a meeting of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Mazhlis, in the second reading, a bill aimed at preventing cases of torture to persons in the process of criminal cases was considered, Uzdaily reports.

The document provides for amendments to the Law “On the Content of Square in the Criminal Code”.

In particular, a mandatory procedure for a medical examination is introduced directly in the pre -trial detention center before placing the detainee in the insulator.

In addition, the bill establishes the procedure for the immediate notice of the prosecutor in the event of a mandatory medical examination in detained injuries or bodily harm.

The implementation of the proposed norms will help prevent illegal actions, including torture, in relation to detained persons, ensuring their protection and compliance with rights.

The bill was approved by deputies in the third reading.
