Young Iraqi veterinarian Mukhanned Hassan treats sick or injured homeless animals in the rehabilitation center created in the city of Kirkuk in the north of Iraq at his own expense.
A shelter for stray animals and the rehabilitation center of Hassan operates in Kirkuk for about 5 years.
The founder of the center and his team of 20 people care about homeless animals on a voluntary basis.
In an interview with Anadolu, Hassan said that employees of the center have been treating homeless animals for free since 2018.
According to him, a veterinary clinic, a pharmacy for animals, an X -ray office, surgical department, a shelter and a hotel.

“Animals abandoned on the street live in the shelter. In particular, many animals come to cold winter days and scorching summer heat. We are very glad that for many years we have supported homeless animals. We are helped by responsive residents of the region. They bring us In the clinic abandoned on the street, ”said Hassan.
The young veterinarian noted that the clinic provides services for six days a week, and the center itself has already accepted a large number of animals.
“There are many homeless cats and dogs on the streets that are injured mainly as a result of traffic accidents,” Hassan noted.
According to him, in addition to cats and dogs, in the clinic, they are treated and birds. On average, in a veterinary hospital, treatment from 5 to 12 animals per day undergo treatment, Hassan noted.
“Our center is also the first and only animal hotel in Kirkuk. As a rule, hotel services are paid, but we accept homeless animals, the treatment of which takes many days,” said Hassan
