Sonlerto’s village in the south of Switzerland against the background of the energy crisis attracts great attention. In the picturesque village in the mountain valley of Bavon, there was never electricity. This is reported by Euronews.
“Yes, I always see how they spend resources, including electricity, so many lights everywhere. But we don’t have it everywhere: it’s dark everywhere, there are simply no street lamps here,” says a local resident.
stoves, firewood and candles – Sonleto residents live like a century ago, and almost do not complain.
According to another local resident, for them “reducing the consumption of resources is not a problem at all, we know very well how to live without them.”
Electricity in the Bavona Valley is: as many as three hydroelectric power stations are on mountain rivers. But almost all kilowatt hours go north, to the German-speaking part of Switzerland. The village of Sonlerto wires bypassed. In the 80s, solar panels began to be placed here, but they are considered not the most necessary thing in the economy.
