The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia made a statement in which it condemned the trip to the Abkhazia of the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia decisively condemns the arrival of the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin in the occupied region of Abkhazia in violation of the state border of Georgia. This represents the next gross violation of the basic principles and norms of international law, the continuation of the encroachment policy on the territorial integrity of a sovereign state and international obligations. Including, this is another fact of ignoring an agreement on the ceasefire signed on August 12, 2008, ”the statement quoted by news -group quoted.
Volodin arrived in Sukhumi on December 1, in Moscow the trip was called “an official visit.” The program announced Volodin’s performance to the deputies of the local national assembly and a meeting with de facto speaker of the parliament.
