Voluntary Return To Syria Continues Through Ovladag Gearbox

After the overthrow of the Bashar Assad regime on December 8, 2024, the Syrians, who voluntarily returning to their homeland through the ovladags gearbox, rejoice at the meeting with their families.

The Syrians who fled to Turkey during the Civil War continue to return to their homeland through the oviladag gearbox in the Province of Hatai, which was again open after 11 years.

Ramazan Molla Ali, responsible for the meeting of Casab, who arrives on the Syrian side in the checkpoint, told Anadol about the process of return.

He noted that from the first days he sought to open a checkpoint. The preparatory work ended on December 9 and voluntary return began on December 12, he said.

According to Ali, the flow of returning increased significantly at the end of 2024: over the past month, 2612 people returned through the KB KAB. He added that in 2025 the number of transitions increased even more, and only about 700 people returned in the first week of January.

“There is nothing better than your homeland”

One of the Beshar Bekdash who returned to the Laziye Beshar said that he had previously lived in Antakier, but after the earthquake he moved to Samsun. “After the overthrow of the Assad regime, we completed all the things and immediately decided to return. There is nothing better than his homeland,” he said.

Bekdash has not seen his parents for about 13 years. “Even just to be with the family is already enough. Now I think only about staying at home. I don’t need more,” said the Syrian.

He expressed gratitude to the Turkish people for hospitality. Speaking about the simplicity of the return process, Bekdash noted: “The procedure is very simple: I just provided an identity card and documents about the place of residence. I passed the fingerprints – no problems arose.”

Father Bezara, Shafik Bekdash, emphasized that the years of suffering is finally behind. “Glory to Allah, we are saved. I came here to meet real heroes,” he said.

“I am crying now, but I feel updated, as if my heart has become pure. Before that, our soul was blacker than the night,” Bektash emphasized.

“Life in Turkey was beautiful”

Muhammad Tabash from the Dzhabla region to Lazkiya also shared the joy of returning. “I return because my country was restored. Eight years ago I left Syria – this is a whole life,” he said.

Speaking of life in Turkey, Tabash noted that “life in Turkey was very good, they were accepted with warmth.”

Another returning one, Muhammad Selim UBYish, told how he missed his friends and relatives.

“I need only my mother. Mother is the most important in life.” he said.
