WADA approved proposal of Shafag Huseynli

The structure of the World Anti -Doping Agency (WADA) will expand the powers of national anti -doping organizations. Thus, they will be part of the Council of the founders WADA.

This decision was made on the basis of the proposal of the expert group for National Anti -Doping organizations WADA. Back in 2020, a member of the expert group, director of the Azerbaijani National Anti -Doping Agency (Amada), Shafag Huseynli made an offer to include this issue on the agenda, substantiating this by the need for the participation of national anti -doping organizations in the formation of a global anti -doping policy. After long discussions, the final proposal of the expert group on this issue received support at a meeting of the Executive Committee and the Council of the founders of WADA, held on May 18-19 in Egypt.

At the meeting, a representative office of national anti -doping organizations and athletes in the Council of Founders, which is the highest body of the World Anti -Doping Agency, as well as increasing the status of an expert group and the implementation of appropriate structural reforms in this direction, was approved. The number of members of the WADA founders Council thus increased by four people. Two of them will be represented by national anti -doping agencies, and two athletes will have the right to vote when making decisions.

These structural and managerial reforms have become the main topic of discussion at a meeting of the expert group on National Anti-Doping organizations WADA, which took place on May 24-25 in the Swiss Lausanne. Shafag Huseynli also participated in this meeting. At the meeting, during which the necessary reforms were discussed to improve anti -doping policy at the global level and the mechanism of implementation of these reforms was widely discussed, the general director of WADA Olivier Niglyi also participated. Since in accordance with these reforms the status of the expert group will be increased, the group will subsequently send its proposals and recommendations for approval directly to the Council of the Founders.

It should be noted that the WADA expert group for national anti -doping organizations was established in 2015, and AMADA was presented in the group since 2019. The expert group presents only eight countries, one of which is Azerbaijan. The group gives the WADA recommendations on the development of a strategy for activities and standards for national anti -doping organizations.
