The United States believe that Russia has violated the terms of the contract on the reduction and restriction of strategic offensive weapons (DSNV, SNV-3), having blocked the American inspections and refusing Washington to discuss compliance with the contract.
This was reported by The Wall Street Journal with reference to the report of the US State Department sent to the US Congress.
According to the report, due to the lack of inspections, it has become more difficult to check the number of warheads deployed by Russia as part of the agreement.
“there is a clear way to restore the regime of compliance (contract), and we still value this agreement high,” said a senior representative of the State Department.
“Both of these cases of non -compliance are easily eliminated,” he added.
At the same time, the representative of the State Department said that Russia claims to be maintaining the contract. In September, Russia notified the United States about the presence of 1,549 warheads, the foreign ministry claims. At the same time, the State Department noted that even if Moscow refuses the DSNV, then significant changes in the number of warheads will not happen.
