Water heating in the ocean and global warming forces to migrate the fish living in the southern waters to the north. This was reported by the Norwegian newspaper The Barents Observer with reference to the corresponding study.
Scientists of the Institute of Marine Research and the Norwegian Arctic University have studied data on the ecosystems of the Northern Ocean over the past 30 years.
The study says that fish migration changes the interaction between species in the region, and the current situation can create problems for fish species that currently live in these waters.
A researcher at the Norwegian Institute of Marine Research Ulf Lindstraem said that earlier, with the usual trail of the trawl network in North Norway, there were about 6-7 different types of fish.
“Today, you can catch 15 different types of fish with a trawl,” he said.
According to him, in recent years, new species of fish have appeared in the northern waters, including sprats and cod.
