The European Union carefully monitors the case of the accused of corruption and the Stateism of the former President of Moldova Igor Dodon, hopes for a fair investigation and does not see signs of a political order, said the head of the EU delegation in the Republic, Yanis Mazheks on the air of the TV8 television channel.
“We monitor this case for a number of reasons, .. We are interested because the matter is resonant. At this stage, we do not see any element (political intervention – ed.), No political order,” RIA Novosti quotes him.
According to him, Dodon is one of the leaders of the legitimate political force in parliament, so it is important that no one prevents the activities of the opposition. At the same time, there are things that need to be investigated. The diplomat hopes that the investigation will be fair and independent, he believes that the intervention is unacceptable.
Recall that the employees of the anti -corruption prosecutor’s office on May 24 detained Dodon for 72 hours. The ex-president, as well as at home at his mother in the village of Sadov, were searches. The next day, the former head of state was charged with passive corruption, illegal enrichment, financing of the party at the expense of the criminal organization and betrayal of the homeland.
Earlier, the court in Chisinau placed Dodon under house arrest for 30 days.
