As you know, on board the Russian missile cruiser “Moscow”, the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, in the evening of April 13 there was a fire. Ukrainian media and politicians said that the cruiser was struck by the two missiles “Neptune” Ukrainian production. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced that a fire began on the cruiser, as a result of which ammunition began to explode. The reason for the fire in the Ministry of Defense was not called, stating only that it “sets”.
What threatens the loss of “Moscow”
One of the tasks of the cruiser is the airless and missile defense in the interests of all fleet forces: the ship carries on board the long-range air defense complexes of the C-300 “Fort”, writes “Medusa”.
The loss of combat capability “Moscow” can seriously weaken the protection of the fleet forces participating in the war with Ukraine, from air attacks. Probably, “Moscow” is the only one of those who are in the ranks of the ships of its class (there is still a “Varyag” on the Pacific Fleet and Marshal Ustinov on the North) during modernization did not receive new radars who could effectively condem the low-fat goals like the anti-worm missile Neptune.
Moscow displacement is 9800-11300 tons. If the cruiser fails to save, it will become the largest combat loss of fleets of the world since 1982.
According to the site of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Moscow rocket cruiser was laid in 1976 on the Nikolaev shipbuilding plant named after 61 Communar in Ukraine and was originally called “Glory”. After seven years, the ship was introduced into the fleet. The cruiser became the head ship of the draft Soviet missile cruisers, the main task of which was the attack of the enemy’s surface vehicles with the help of anti-religious missiles.
In the 1990s, in the process of the section of the Black Sea Fleet between Russia and Ukraine, Russia received. Kiev went to the unfinished cruiser of the same class “Ukraine”, which still stands at the Ruerfi Stappels in Nikolaev and, perhaps, was fired by the Russian artillery in March 2022.
