Wheat reserves in Georgia are virtually exhausted, said the head of the Association of Grain and Flour of Georgia, Levan Silagava in an interview with the Georgian Information Agency Interpress.
“For several months, the flour that replaces wheat is aggressively imported into the country. Today we have reached the situation that the wheat reserves that we had previously had to be exhausted and the mills will stop for several days,” TASS quotes Silagava.
According to him, according to the current Georgian legislation, the tax on the import of flour is zero, and wheat – floating and today is $ 120 per 1 ton. He noted that the UN recommends that the countries keep at least two -month wheat reserves.
