The White House warned Canada that its plans to stop the supply of electricity in the United States can lead to serious consequences.
White House spokeswoman Carolin Levitt made an application at a press conference, commenting on the plans of the Prime Minister Ontario Dag Ford to terminate the supply of electricity to the United States.
“If Canada decides to stop the supply of electricity to the United States and our citizens, it will face serious consequences,” said Levitt.
She also noted that President Donald Trump is configured that the United States does not depend on the electricity of other countries, including Canada, and expressed hope for Canada made a reasonable decision.
Levitt emphasized that Canada, being a neighboring partner, could now become a “competitor.”
Earlier on March 10, the Prime Minister Ontario Dag Ford said that the Canadian province will increase the tariffs for electricity supplied to the United States by 25% in response to American duties. He also stated that if the United States continues to escalate, Canada is ready to completely stop the supply of electricity.
