White House: We Recognize Legitimate Fears Of Turkey In Fight Against Terrorism

The US Administration, evaluating the current situation in Syria, said that it recognizes the legitimate fears of Turkey in the fight against terrorism.

The White House adviser to strategic communications John Kirby at a briefing conducted on a video conference, commented on the situation in Syria and Turkey’s efforts in the fight against the YPG/PKK terrorist organization.

“Türkiye has the right to protect its citizens and territory from terrorist attacks,” Kirby said, adding that this NATO ally was “recently subjected to such attacks.”

“We recognize this right and understand that Türkiye is an important NATO ally,” he stressed.

Kirby also said that the United States is in close contact with Turkey on the situation in Syria and YPG/PKK.

The United States continues the support of YPG/PKK under the pretext of fighting deesh

Kirby noted that the United States will continue to support YPG/PKK, referring to the need to counteract the militants deesh.

“We have interests in the fight against deash, and this implies partnership with Syrian democratic forces (YPG/PKK). This partnership will continue,” he said.

Commenting the clashes between the Syrian National Army (Sleep) and YPG/PKK terrorists in Manbij, Kirby said that he could not confirm the current situation in the region, but noted that the United States maintains contacts with Turkey and YPG/PKK.

He also expressed concern that Turkey and sleep operations against YPG/PKK distract the latter from the fight against deash, as well as from control over the deaash militants.
