WHO convenes an extraordinary meeting of experts to discuss the outbreak of monkeys smallpox, writes Telegraph.
The disease is transmitted through direct physical contact in airborne droplets and is mainly common in Africa, where it is infected for the most part by children.
The incubation period – from 5 to 21 days, symptoms – temperature, back pain and muscles, chills and fatigue. The mortality rate ranges from 4 to 22%.
On the eve of the OSPU, monkeys were revealed in Australia, Canada, France, Belgium and Germany.
