The World Health Organization (WHO) extended the emergency regime in the world health care for the next three months in connection with the COVID-19 outbreak.
This is stated in a press release from the Geneva headquarters of WHO following a meeting of the Emergency Situations Committee.
The general director of Tedros Adan Goebreesus agreed with the recommendation of the committee regarding the pandemic Covid-19. He said that she continues to be an emergency in public healthcare, which is of international significance.
Experts came to the conclusion that the pandemic of coronavirus may be approaching a turning point. In their opinion, the achievement of high levels of immunity in the population of the world due to vaccination and the transferred disease by Covid can limit the effect of SARS-COV-2 on incidence and mortality.
“There is no doubt that this virus will remain a constantly present pathogen in people and animals in the foreseeable future,” the committee noted.
According to experts, although “eliminating this virus from reservoirs in people and animals is extremely unlikely”, mitigating its impact on incidence and mortality “is achievable and should be a priority purpose.”
In this regard, the Committee recommended that the WHO to develop proposals for alternative mechanisms to combat Covid after the completion of the emergency regime.
