According to the Turkish media reports, the Azerbaijani businessman, whose name is not called, acquired the current five-star “Thor Hotel” in the Turkish resort Bodrum.
As it became known, the previous owner of the hotel, which previously arrested due to credit debt, was Abdulla Hayekan, a Turkish citizen of Jordanian origin.
The hotel was arrested three years ago due to the owner of the State Bank of Turkey Halk Bank in the amount of 32 million euros unpaid by it. As a result, the bank confiscated the hotel and put it up for sale at auction.
According to information posted on local tourist sites, the “Thor Hotel” was sold at an auction with a predetermined outcome. It is noted that Turkish and foreign businessmen who expressed the desire to offer a higher price for the hotel, were not allowed for bidding.
However, the “Thor Hotel” administration denied reports that the hotel was confiscated to the bank due to credit debt. In particular, representatives of the administration claim that the Azerbaijani businessman offered a good price for the object – $ 35 million, after which the owner, Abdullah Heykan, agreed to a deal and signed the sale agreement. At the same time, it was agreed that until October 31, the hotel would be managed by Abdullah Heyecan.
At the same time, a number of Turkish publications insist that the former owner of Thor Hotel really could not pay off the loan received from the state Halk Bank, who had been waiting for the loan for four years until he put on the hotel at the end of 2021 Arrest.
It is curious that Osman Arslan, the Executive Director of Halk Bank, refused to answer questions from journalists about this.
