In recent years, there has been substantial increase of tools to generate, analyse and use data and evidence to support discussion and decision-making by National TB programmes (NTPs) and their partners. In this context, the World Health Organization (WHO) is releasing a new Compendium of data and evidence-related tools for use in TB planning and programming. The compendium is expected to help NTPs and their national stakeholders to understand how and when these different tools could be used.
The document provides an overview of the key tools related to data and evidence for use in TB planning and programming. It presents standard profiles for each tool, and explains how each tool fits within the People-centred framework for tuberculosis programme planning and prioritization. Each profile also includes information on what should be considered when implementing the tool, and a case study describing the tool implementation at country level and how results were used to support national processes of TB planning and programming.
Together with the People-centred framework, this compendium aims to enable better and more routine use of data and evidence for TB programme planning and prioritization at national and subnational levels, and accelerate national efforts to end TB.
