Why did director of Ganjin school to commit suicide

The reasons why the director of the Ganjin school attempted suicide became known.

The Ministry of Education said that a few days ago the director of secondary school No. 1 named after Ismet Gazibova in Ganja Matanat Garaeva attempted suicide. M. Garaeva was hospitalized, where she was given first aid.

Speaking to journalists after suicide attempts, the school principal said that the reason that pushed it to this was that the head of the Ganja-Dashkessian regional education department Anar Gadimaliev wanted to dismiss her and allegedly even blackmail it. According to M. Garaeva, there is already a candidate in her place. Unable to withstand all this, the woman decided to commit suicide.

However, they noticed in the Ministry of Education, who tried to commit suicide, the director received a strict reprimand from the ministry a year ago. As reported in the Ganja-Dashkessian regional education department, M. Garaeva abused her official position. The school included a teacher who does not live in Azerbaijan. It turned out that the former English teacher of this school quit work and moved to Dubai in January 2022. However, the director decided to leave the “dead soul” to be at work, assigning wages for it.

The regional education department also reported that the deputy director of the school Tair Gasanova, who knew about the fraud of the director and, in addition, did not fulfill his duties, was involved in illegal actions. Gasanova is also considered guilty, as she had to promptly report what was happening to the relevant authorities.

In turn, Anar Gadimalyev rejected all the accusations of pressure on the school principal. According to him, M. Garaev was warned of shortcomings in the work, but she ignored all the warnings, said in the Ministry of Education.

Also, A. Gadimaliev said that the department does not appoint school principals: “To become a school principal, you need to pass an exam and pass an interview. This is not within the competence of the Education Department.”

School No. 1 in Ganja, founded in 1833, is one of the oldest educational institutions of the city. Since 1992, the school has been named after the former Prosecutor General Ismet Gaibov, who once studied here. The school, where more than a thousand students have been studying, has been led by Matanat Garaev since 2011. At the moment, law enforcement agencies are investigating the case.
