Problems with the payment of the transportation of Russian goods can lead to a situation that will force Lithuania to stop the railway Kaliningrad transit, the Minister of Communications and Transport of the Baltic Republic of Marus Skoodis said on the air of the National Radio LRT.
“The state cannot oblige commercial banks to accept payments from Russia. I can’t imagine that the enterprises of our sector were provided with services that are not paid,” he said, commenting on the situation with payment for the Kaliningrad transit on the railway.
Payment issues should be addressed to the Russian side, he noted. “The way the calculations will be carried out is the responsibility of the client,” said Skoodis.
Commercial Šiaulių Bankas, through which there were calculations for transit, said that since September 1, he stops all operations with Russian clients due to Western sanctions.
