The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population held a meeting with the delegation of the Azerbaijani-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The press service of the ministry was reported that the meeting discussed issues of cooperation and possible projects to further expand the activities of the Committee of Women professionals in the framework of the Chamber, the elimination of gender inequality, carried out work to expand the employment opportunities of women.
Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Sakhil Babayev said that national legislation on gender equality was improved on the basis of relevant international conventions. He noted that discrimination against women and men in the field of labor and employment is prohibited by law. And said that a draft amendments to labor legislation was prepared, aimed at expanding the possibilities of women’s employment and ensuring gender equality.
The Minister noted the employment programs implemented to expand women’s employment opportunities. He also said that when implementing these programs, the priority was given to women. As a result, last year more than 4,400, and in the first quarter of this year 1,005 women were involved in the program. They were supported in the creation of a small business.
Sakhil Babaev said that women organized vocational training in accordance with the requirements of the labor market. In continuation of this work last year and in the first quarter of this year, about 1,000 women were involved in the vocational training program.
Informing about reforms in the field of labor and employment, social security, the Minister noted that special attention is paid to cooperation with employers, as well as companies presented in the Azerbaijani-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Chairman of the Board of Chamber of Teib Guliyev noted reforms in the social sphere, as well as in the field of labor relations, employment, the importance of similar meetings for exchange of views and information.
The main mission of the Azerbaijani-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry, established in 2014, is the further development of business and trading relations between Azerbaijan and France. Currently, about 50 local and international companies are members of the chamber.
