In 2024, the World Community was celebrated for the 19th time International Day of Solidarity (International Human Solidarity Day).
He was proclaimed by the resolution of the UN General Assembly of December 22, 2005, which was dedicated to the first decade of the UN to combat poverty (1997-2006).
In its resolution, the General Assembly noted that one of the fundamental and universal values that should underlie international relations in the 21st century is solidarity.
The main goal of the initiative is to strengthen solidarity between different groups of society and eliminate the causes of inequality; It is aimed at attracting attention to the problems of peaceful coexistence, interethnic and inter -religious tolerance, preventing conflicts and violence, and protecting human rights. This is the day of action in defense of new initiatives to eradicate poverty.
One of the fundamental principles of the UN since its foundation is solidarity with people suffering from poverty and oppression. The creation of the UN contributed to the rapprochement of peoples and countries of the world in order to protect the world, human rights and socio-economic development. Seeing the spirit of solidarity strictly, the UN in everyday activity is relied on on “implementation of international cooperation in resolving international problems of economic, social, cultural and humanitarian nature”.

Back in 2002, the UN General Assembly established the World Solidarity Fund Fund as a targeted fund for the UN Development Program (UNDP). Its goal is to eradicate poverty and contribute to the development of man and society in developing countries, especially among the poorest segments of the population. The UNDG acts to support the transformations and provides access to knowledge sources, practical experience and resources in order to promote the life of the population. This structure operates in 170 countries and territories.
International Day of Solidarity of People, which is devoted to a specific topic every year, is covered by all the media, including articles in magazines, speeches at official events, notes in the web blocks of individuals, groups and interested organizations.
On the Day of International Solidarity, the UN resembles the governments of countries that they should respect their obligations regarding international agreements.
