Sales of weapons and military services 100 largest companies in the world amounted to $ 531 billion in 2020, which is 1.3% more in real terms compared to 2019. This is stated in the report of the Stockholm International Institute for Peace Studies (SIPRI), reports TASS.
According to the scientific officer of the Arms and Military Expenditures of the Institute of Alexandra Marctesteiner, the military-industrial giants during the reduction of the global economy were thoroughly protected by the demand of their governments for services and military products. “In many countries of the world, military expenses grew, and some governments even accelerated payments of the military industry in order to soften the effect of the crisis because of COVID-19,” Marctestein noted.
It is noted that a number of companies failed to protect against the effects of the pandemic.
